Hi I’m Cathy.
I care that you feel able to access counselling and that it meets your needs. It’s important to me that you have a safe space where you will not be judged and an environment that helps you to feel as comfortable as you can.
My focus is person-centred, which means I work to really understand what your life is like for you. I respectfully acknowledge all that you bring and the counselling is led by you. By building a trustworthy relationship at your pace, you may feel able to begin to explore, what is worrying you. I will be alongside you, as an empathic and compassionate source of support. You may discover that through feeling genuinely accepted and valued, you gather the ability to reconnect with your innermost values. This may help you to steer your life in the direction you want it to go.
Feel to move around in the sessions. I provide fidget toys, drawing paper, pens, or you can bring your own. I get that for some people, words and feelings do not come easily. We can look to use more creative ways to help you express yourself, if this is what you would like.
I have much experience working with autistic people and their families. I volunteer as a counsellor at Cheshire Autism Practical Support. I have worked for ChildLine and have experience working as a Counsellor in a Sixth Form College. My qualifications include :
