My name is Raheema I am a level 4 student counsellor and a register member with the British association for counselling and Psychotherapy , I adhere to their ethical framework and guidelines. Several years ago I went through the darkest times of my life, My relationship had broken down i had to leave my home with my son, I lost my mother and ended up in another abusive relationship having just left one , bankrupt broken and severally depressed , I felt there was no way out but I had a son who needed his mum so I went to get help, I was diagnosed with Post traumatic Stress Disorder, depression and anxiety. I went for counselling and it changed my life for the better , it was the hope I thought id never feel and the light I thought id never see again. After having counselling, I decided to start studying to gain a deeper understanding into my experiences and how I had been affected by them. I couldn’t believe how much my life changed for the better and once I was fully better I knew I wanted to become a counsellor and help and support other people on their journey with the experiences I had an knowledge I had gained along the way I believe being a counsellor is my calling in life.
Helping others is something I am passionate about and I feel honoured to be given this opportunity, On a personal level I am approachable, genuine and kind, I don’t judge anyone and have a natural ability to empathise and support others .
I can truly say that my darkness lead me to the light and the person I am today it’s a lovely feeling to be in a position where I can help and support other people, I have learnt along the way that we can be happy again. Life can be really hard and we can all have moments when we feel hopeless and it all just feels too much, for those times of distress or worry a confidential safe space to be listened to without fear of judgement I believe can be a helpful starting point .
I know first hand how scary therapy can be but worry not the centre here is a lovely tranquil place with the nicest people ever, everyone is friendly and approachable and we have all been on our own difficult journeys so we understand how daunting it can all feel and will d our utmost to make you feel welcome and relaxed .
