Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a combination of humanistic therapies, cognitive behavioural therapy and hypnotherapy. This therapy works around the belief that a person’s life experiences, right from the moment they’re born, influence the way they see the world.
How does this work?
An NLP practitioner will assist you in unpacking how you have learned to feel and think, which in turn will allow you to take control of your actions. As well as this, your practitioner will discuss your successes with you so that you can reflect on these and in turn develop more successful behaviours and skills.
Typically, NLP is used in addition to other therapies, the two most common being person-centred therapy and transactional analysis.
