Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy that uses hypnosis, or a trance-like state, to treat various mental and physical conditions. It is a form of therapy that is used to treat a wide variety of conditions, including anxiety, phobias, and addiction. During hypnotherapy, clients are guided into a trance-like state by a hypnotherapist who uses verbal cues and body language. Once in this state, clients are then able to access their subconscious mind, which is where many of our unconscious habits and behaviours reside. This allows therapists to address any underlying issues that may be causing problems in a person’s life. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be effective in treating a wide variety of conditions, and it is safe for most people.

What happens during a hypnotherapy session?
Prior to having a hypnotherapy session, you will have a telephone consultation with the hypnotherapist that will establish what you are looking to achieve and assess that you are suitable for the process.
During your first session you will have a general discussion with the hypnotherapist about the issue you are looking for help with. Unlike talking therapy, there is no need to discuss your issues in depth, but some general information will help the session be tailored to your specific needs. We then start the process of guiding you into a state of hypnosis.
Hypnosis is a very pleasant state, and as you enter into a hypnotic trance, you will feel as though you are simply zoning in and following what is being said to you. Physically, you may feel more relaxed. Throughout the process, you will be aware at all times of what is happening and being said – you won’t be unconscious or asleep.
Once you are at the appropriate level of hypnosis, therapeutic techniques will be used to help address your issue. This can include, reframing, regression, parts therapy, inner-child work and positive suggestions.
It is important to know that hypnosis is a natural state and you are always in control, the hypnotherapist is your guide to help you resolve those issues that are held within the subconscious mind.
